Something that people have been hoping for ever since Mojang announced they were adding emerald to the game. A new ore… What do you do with a new ore? Well most peoples guesses was to make tools and armour just like you would with iron and diamond. Instead mojang used them as currency for villager trading. I know we all thought that was pretty cool, but wouldn’t it be better if we could also make tools and armour out of our hard earned emeralds? Well now you can with the Emerald and Ruby Tools and Armor mod by BoilingFort.
This mod lets you make an Emerald pickaxe, axe, sword, shovel, hoe, boots, leggings, chest-plate and helmet just like you would with iron or diamond. It’s something that really should be added to vanilla minecraft. The value of Emerald tools is between iron and diamond. They are faster than iron but slower than diamond. They have 750 uses which is in between iron and diamond. Some may think this is overpowered considering Emeralds only spawn in the Extreme Hills biome and are extremely rare; rarer than diamond itself. Well, BoilingFort immediately thought of the other way to obtain emerals. By trading with villagers you can get emeralds surprisingly easy. That is why the Emerald tools and armour are not as good as diamond. Still pretty good tools however.
As you can probably guess from the name of this mod, Emerald tools and armour isn’t the only thing the Emerald and Ruby Tools and Armour mod adds to the minecraft experience. You might remember the first 1.3 snapshot that included emeralds. You might remember that those emerald were actually rubies. BoilingFort has added those Rubies to the game for us, making them spawn just as other ores do. The Ruby tools have 500 uses and are slightly slower then emeralds. The reason for that is because their spawn-rate is not as low as emeralds.
An excellent job has been projected into this mod by BoilingFort. It adds something very simple that we all thought was going to happen when Mojang announced Emeralds/Rubies into the game. All done surprisingly without any use what so ever of modloader! He coded this mod as the snapshots were released meaning BoilingFort had no access to modloader because it hadn’t been updated. Excellent job!
